How to choose an EXIM consultant
- Match the service to your stageNew exporters need IEC, RCMC and GST set up. Manufacturers that export need Advance Authorisation or EPCG, and help closing them out.
- Prefer a local officeDGFT and customs work runs through your regional office. A consultant in the same city can visit it in person when an application gets stuck.
- Ask about closure, not just approvalMissed export obligations under EPCG or Advance Authorisation lead to duty plus interest. A good consultant tracks those obligations through to closure.
- Customs clearance is a separate licenceOnly a CBIC-licensed Customs Broker can file and clear your shipment. Many consultants work with one, so ask who it is.

No. You can apply for an IEC yourself on the DGFT portal. A consultant helps most with licences, incentive claims and closures.
Consultant or Customs Broker: what’s the difference?
A consultant handles licences and incentives. A Customs Broker files your shipping documents and clears the goods at the port.

Register as a consultant
Free to submit. We review each registration before it is listed and may ask for proof of the details you give. If you offer customs clearance for clients, the licence number is required, because only a licensed Customs Broker may do that work (CBLR, 2018, regulation 3).
